Siobhan o'connor

Siobhan O'Connor's sculptural work and drawing explore the modern methods of construction through structured forms and space. The material she often uses are generally cold, hard, fixed forms such as slate concrete and metal.

Using material from a construction space, she examines 2D and 3D forms and decompose elements of buildings to bring them into a new space creating her own structured form. Her interests in how a structure holds up another structure allow her  a deeper insight in how one thing is layered on another through tension and suspension methods. Balance is also a key research element in her.  Her drawings allow her to solve any construction problems that may occur, but also are works in themselves.
